1. THE MONTE SPINA TRAIL THE ABSOLUTE MTB HIGHLIGHT
ON THE TRACKS OF THE STONEMANTRAIL
Start at the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ***s via forest road no. 13 in the direction of Nemes Alm, after approx. 2 km we turn off to the valley station of the Drei Zinnenbahn. To save our batteries, we take the Drei Zinnenbahn to the Stiergarten, then it goes to the Nemesalm where we turn left just before the hut into the high valley to the Kniebergsattel/Passo Silvella (2.320). The dreamlike alpine landscape makes the challenging path to the Kniebergsattel/Passo Silvella unforgettable. Arriving at Passo Silvella, there is a short, strenuous pushing section to the left over the gravel fields of the Knieberg. Then the highlight: the famous Monte Spina Trail. Like a crest, this stretches along the meadow ridge for almost seven kilometers to the south. So you balance right on the landscape border and you can hardly get enough of it. On the right, the petrified dinosaurs of the Dolomites are staggered on the horizon; on the left resides the majestic Crode dei Longerin. It seems as if the trail never wants to end, and the film reel of the Dolomite towers keeps unwinding.
At the end of the Monte Spina Trail there is a flowing trail at the end.... before it goes over a slightly uphill forest road in the direction of Coltrondo Alm and then to the Kreuzbergpass. Shortly before the Kreuzbergpass there is another demanding trail S2.
Arrived at the Kreuzbergpass it goes slightly downhill, past the Caravan Park in the direction of Signaue. From there it goes back to the starting point in Sesto/Moos to the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s
Refreshments: Klammbach Alm hut, Coltrondo Alm hut, "Zin Fux", “Pollaio Hut”
