1. Trail addict Monte Spina and Duck Corner Trail

Start at the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s along forest road no. 13 towards “Alpe di Nemes” (1,877), after 5 km, just before the hut, turn left into the valley to the “Kniebergsattel/Passo Silvella (2,320). The stunning Alpine landscape makes the physically demanding path to the Kniebergsattel/Passo Silvella an unforgettable experience. Once at the Passo Silvella, a strenuous section follows where you must cross the gravel fields of the Silvella pushing your bike. Then the highlight of the famous Monte Spina Trail. Nearly seven kilometres long, this grassy ridge extends apex-like towards the south. Here, you are balancing directly on the border and the views are terrific. On the right, the fossilised dinosaur of the Dolomites stretches into the horizon; on the left, resides the majestic Croda dei Longerin. It appears as though the trail never ends and the film reel of the Dolomite mountains continues forever. From Dosoledo (1,230) over the Valgrande to the Passo di Monte Croce di Comélico (1,630) another challenging trail awaits calves that are now tired. But the shimmering green meadows in the setting sun of the afternoon more than compensate for the effort. From the Passo di Monte Croce di Comélico, there is only one final hurdle to master – the 300 m difference in altitude on the Prati di Croda Rossa (1,950). It’s time to mobilise all your energy reserves along the beautiful path through the larch forests and enjoy the glowing mountain peaks in the evening light on the Prati di Croda Rossa. The final descent via the technically challenging Duck Corner Trail into the Val Fiscalina is a reward for the rigours of the day; from here, it’s back to Sesto/Moso to the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s.

Tip: The technically difficult “Duck Corner Trail” S2/S3 can be bypassed via the forest without any problems.

Refreshment huts: Malga Alpe-Nemes, Coltrondo-Hut, Pollaio Hut, Gasthäusl “Putschall”
