14. Spectacular Five Hut Tour in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park

Start in Sesto/Moso from the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s with your own car until Dobbiaco (railway station approx. 15 km), you can find a parking space here without any problems. From the car park the route goes through the beautiful, slightly uphill cycle path into the delightful natural landscape of the high plateau towards Cortina, past Lake Dobbiaco (1,250), Lake Vallandro (1,400) to reach the “Passo Cimabanche/Gemark” (1,530). From here, follow the cycle path for about 1 km and then turn right onto the relatively challenging path over the “Val di Gotres” to the Malga Ra Stua hut (1,680). The route from the Malga Ra Stua hut is relatively flat for about 4 km before turning left along a very tough ascent to the Alpine holiday village of “Fodara Wedla” (1,970). Then continue along a very steep descent to Pederu (1,550), followed by a strenuous climb up to the Malga Fanes (2,060), which rewards with spectacular panoramic views. From the Malga Fanes hut climb again up an extremely steep path for about 2 km to the Limo Pass (2,170), once at the Limo Pass it is time for a break. Fortified, continue past shimmering green Lake Limo and start down the exciting 800 m of difference in altitude descent through the Fane Valley for about 10 km – Warning, coarse gravel and stones and often relatively steep and slippery sections requiring good cycling technique. A stone in the wrong place can quickly be fatal. A stop at the staggering Ponte Alto (1,380 m) is a must! Turn left onto a gravel track after the third bridge to reach the cycle path to the starting point at Dobbiaco.
