6. EMTB BIKETOUR TO THE MARCHKINKELE
BIKE ON THE OLD WARWAY ROUTES
Start from the Bike Hotel Alpenblick****s on the cycle path to San Candido (1,150), from there continue along the cycle path along the River Drava until Dobbiaco, (1,210) up to the railway station. Pass the railway station to the main road, cross this and cycle for about 2 km on the cycle path towards Brunico. After the railway underpass turn right towards Dobbiaco Alta, following the Stoneman sign continue into the Silvestro Valley, passing the Rifugio Genziana up to the Malga S. Silvestro hut (1,800). After a short rest at the mountain hut, continue to Silvestro Square and from there along a military road from the First World War in switchbacks until Marchkinkele (2,550). Each turn of the pedal on this magnificent descent is accompanied by the unique panorama of the Sesto Dolomites with the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the background. The Marchkinkele (2,550 m) is situated on the border with East Tyrol and offers an amazing 360° view of the Sesto Dolomites as well as Austria’s glacier landscape.

After a rest, it then goes over a moderately difficult single trail to the "Steinbergalm" and then back to the "Silvesteralm". Then to the Silvesterplatz and then via the Lachwiesenhütte in the direction of Toblach, turn left just before Toblach and via the Innichberg back to the Bike-Hotel Alpenblick ****s in Moos.
