Start from the
Bike Hotel Alpenblick****s on the cycle path to
San Candido (1,150), from there continue along the
cycle path along the
River Drava until
Dobbiaco, (1,210) up to the railway station. Pass the railway station to the main road, cross this and cycle for about 2 km on the
cycle path towards Brunico. After the railway underpass turn right towards
Dobbiaco Alta, following the
Stoneman sign continue into the
Silvestro Valley, passing the
Rifugio Genziana, from there continue to the first fork where you then turn left towards
Frondeigen (1,600). Continue along the forest path into the
Val Casies towards Oberplanken. In
Oberplanken, cycle between the farms and continue for around 400 m to the provincial road. Cross the road and follow the forest road on the other side of the valley. Follow the signs and again cross the B-road near to
S. Martino (1,277 m) and continue to the sports ground. Now ignore the
cycle path signposts and follow the side road on the right-hand side of the valley, which leads directly to the
Rifugio Fondo Valle (1,465 m). Turn right before the bridge
(signposted Malga Uwald Hut) and follow the tarmacked road for a few hundred metres to the start of the forestry road. Keep left at the fork
to Pfoialm and cycle along an extremely steep section up to
the Malga Uwald Hut (2,042 m). It's worthwhile stopping for a hearty bite to eat here. The way back is along the same path to
Oberplanken, continue along
the cycle path, past the
Kohlerhof farm up to Unterplanken. Down into the valley until
Durnwald, past the
Untersinnerhof farm and along the castle route to
Monguelfo. From Monguelfo on the
